Case Study 2

How can we make our school canteen more eco-friendly?”
Remember, everyone should speak.
Just tell canteen auntie: no more plastic straw! Habis, done!”
Priya立刻插话:“Azman, that’s too shallow. We need structural change. Compost bin, waste segregation. If we only say ‘no straw’, that’s like—basic, lah.”
他小声试探:“I think… maybe… use tray… sharing… to reduce… uh…
“Sharing tray? Cannot lah! Hygiene problem! Principal sure reject one.”Priya
Azman哈哈大笑:“Aiyoh, Priya, you always so fierce one. Give chance lah! At least Minh try to say something.”
Priya翻了个白眼:“I’m not fierce, I’m focused. We need real solution, not half-baked idea.”
Minh
How is it going? Everyone contributing?”
Azman咳了一声:“We discussing, cher. Got many ideas, some good, some… errr… maybe funny lah.”
Maybe… we can calculate… how many plastic boxes used every day… then show how much waste in one month.”
Excellent! That’s a strong argument. See? Your math is very useful here.”
We can use bar chart… to show parents and principal.”
And maybe… campaign poster… with picture… easier… not too many words。”
Good point, Minh. Visual support can help everyone understand, no matter their language.”
Azman趁机插嘴:“Ok lah, so my straw idea also can, right? We put it in poster. Easy to draw one big red cross.”
We can combine. But still need deeper solution. Like compost bin.”
Priya自然而然地开口:“I can—”
“Wait lah,” Azman举手,“Always you talk, Priya. Give chance to 李伟 or Minh leh.”
Minh低声说:“I… can try. Short… only few sentences.”
Great. Minh, you can do it. Speak slowly, we will listen.”
——
“I am Minh… from Vietnam. Our group idea… reduce plastic straw and box, use chart to show data, make poster for campaign… and compost bin for food waste. Thank you.”
Azman拍手最响:“Good job, bro!” 李伟低声说:“You did well.”
——
